Overview
Held in Pelham, AL, the Run for Kids 50 km Challenge is an exceptionally flat road event, gaining just 45 meters over 50 kilometers. With 0.9 meters of climb per kilometer on its circuit, the course removes elevation as a strategic factor, rewarding runners who can maintain an unbroken rhythm on asphalt.
The event operates on an intimate scale. Its field is smaller than 94% of 50k races—and bigger than just 4% of 2762 peers—yielding a solitary day on the pavement with virtually no pack racing to rely on. Organised by Southeastern Trail Runs and Mountain High Outfitters, the race has seen 10 editions since its 2012 debut, with the 2026 race recording 3 finishers.
