RunRepeat found the On Cloudultra Pro to have a stable platform and highly-efficient ride, making it an amazing option for ultra races, while iRunFar noted that the shoe looks clunky but runs surprisingly nimble. iRunFar also praised the shoe's comfort, citing its ability to accommodate wide feet without any areas of bother, and appreciated the technical mesh upper technology using Leno weave. However, iRunFar found that the shoe's propulsion, efficiency, and turnover at speed are not as strong as some competitors, but noted that it makes up for this with long-term comfort from its forgiving midsole. RunRepeat also noted that the shoe's toebox durability could be better and that it lacks Vibram Megagrip rubber, a concern echoed by iRunFar, who found the Mission Grip rubber to be less effective on wet trails and in muddy conditions.
